Digable Planets Are Playing Blowout Comb Front to Back
The jazz-rap trio's cult second album gets a full-album anniversary tour.
Digable Planets have announced a summer and fall run continuing the 30th-anniversary celebration of Blowout Comb, their 1994 second album, performing the LP in full at every stop.
Blowout Comb was the darker, denser follow-up to Reachin' — less crossover single, more live-band jazz texture and Brooklyn political undercurrent. It sold less than the debut and has outlasted it in influence, which is exactly the kind of record that earns a full-album tour thirty years on.
The trek opened with a June 18 appearance at Salt Lake City's Utah Arts Festival before heading to Toronto and additional cities.
